Description
1. Silica particles act as the clot activator.
2. Blood clotting promoted with ultrasonically spray-dried.
3. Silica particles on the interior tube wall.
4. Gently mix the blood collection tube by inverting 5-6 times immediately to activate clotting after blood drawing.
5. To obtain serum, tube should be allowed to stand for 30 minutes or until the clot is formed.
6. Centrifugation: ≤ 1300g (RCF) for 10 minutes at 18-25°C.
What is Clot Activator?
SiO2 is a key component of the red top clot activators used in blood collection, it typically takes the form of glass or silica particles. Blood entering the tube and contacting the particles on the tube wall causes the initial activation to happen. It is vital to fully mix the blood and particles by inverting the tube five times in order to continue the activation process.
