Hemodialysis catheter refers to the central venous catheter used for hemodialysis treatment, including temporary hemodialysis catheter and subclavian semi-permanent hemodialysis catheter. Hemodialysis catheter maintenance and precautions usually include maintaining hygiene, observing the catheter, avoiding entanglement, and taking a reasonable rest.

1. Maintain hygiene: Avoid touching the outer end of the catheter with your hands, and keep the local area dry and clean. When showering, the indwelling catheter and the skin outlet can be sealed with a waterproof dressing or protected with an artificial anal bag to avoid infection after getting wet;

2. Observe the catheter: Observe whether there is bleeding or exudation at the catheter outlet, pay attention to the catheter fixation, and evaluate the surrounding skin conditions. If the skin around the catheter or the surface of the tunnel is found to be red, swollen, hot, painful, or bleeding or exuding, it should be treated in time to prevent the spread of infection;

3. Avoid entanglement: Try to choose loose and comfortable clothes when wearing clothes, especially to avoid pulling when turning over and putting on and taking off clothes. Once the catheter falls off, apply pressure to stop bleeding immediately and inform the medical staff in time;

4. Reasonable rest: patients should minimize activities, mainly rest in bed, and avoid strenuous activities.

If you carry a hemodialysis catheter, it is recommended to follow the guidance of a nephrologist for specific hemodialysis catheter maintenance and precautions, and eat a low-salt, low-fat diet, such as millet porridge, noodles, etc., and be diagnosed and treated by a professional doctor to promote the body's recovery.
