Working Principle

A CPR Mask usually consists of a transparent mask body and a one-way valve. During CPR, the rescuer places the mask over the patient's mouth and nose. Through the one-way valve, the rescuer's exhaled air can enter the patient's lungs, while the patient's exhaled air is discharged through the one-way valve, avoiding direct contact with the rescuer. This ensures effective artificial respiration and prevents the spread of diseases, safeguarding the safety of the rescuer.

Types

Simple CPR Mask: This is the most basic type, mainly composed of a mask and a one-way valve. The mask is generally made of transparent plastic, allowing for a clear view of the patient's oral cavity. The one-way valve can effectively prevent the patient's exhaled air from flowing back into the rescuer's mouth. It has a simple structure and is easy to use, being a common first aid item.

CPR Mask with Oxygen Interface: Besides the basic structure of a mask and a one-way valve, this type of mask is equipped with an oxygen interface. Under certain conditions, it can be connected to an oxygen cylinder to provide pure oxygen or high-concentration oxygen to the patient, increasing the success rate of resuscitation. It is commonly used in professional medical settings such as hospitals or in first aid scenarios where oxygen equipment is available.

Silicone CPR Mask: The mask part is made of silicone. Silicone is soft, which can better fit the patient's face, effectively reducing skin damage caused by mask pressure. Meanwhile, it has better sealing performance and is suitable for first aid situations where comfort and sealing effect are highly required.

Usage Methods

Preparation: Before using the CPR Mask, check whether the mask is intact and the one-way valve is working properly. Ensure the surrounding environment is safe and place the patient in a supine position on a firm surface.

Placing the Mask: Place the CPR Mask over the patient's mouth and nose, ensuring that the edge of the mask fits tightly against the patient's face. For adults, the mask should completely cover the mouth and nose; for children or infants, choose a mask of the appropriate size.

Performing Artificial Respiration: The rescuer presses the mask with one hand to keep it in close contact with the patient's face and pinches the patient's nose with the other hand to prevent air leakage. Then the rescuer inhales normally and slowly blows air into the air inlet of the mask. Observe whether the patient's chest rises and falls to confirm if the air has effectively entered the lungs.

Cooperating with Chest Compressions: According to the standard CPR procedure, perform 2 artificial respirations after every 30 chest compressions, and repeat this process until the patient resumes spontaneous breathing or professional medical personnel arrive at the scene.

Maintenance and Precautions

Cleaning and Disinfection: After each use, the CPR Mask should be cleaned and disinfected in a timely manner. Follow the product instructions to disassemble each part of the mask, clean and disinfect it with an appropriate disinfectant, then rinse it thoroughly with clean water and let it dry naturally before storage.

Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly check the integrity of the CPR Mask and the function of the one-way valve to ensure it can be used properly when needed. If any damage to the mask or malfunction of the one-way valve is found, replace it immediately.

Proper Storage: Store the clean and dry CPR Mask in a dry, ventilated and cool place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures to prevent the mask from aging and being damaged.
