Aviation Flight: During an aircraft flight, when an emergency such as cabin depressurization occurs, the oxygen masks will automatically drop for passengers and crew members to use. Types

 

Simple Oxygen Mask: This is one of the most common types of oxygen masks, usually consisting of a transparent mask body and a connecting tube. It has no complex valves or devices and directly delivers oxygen into the mask, and patients inhale the mixed gas (oxygen and air) inside the mask. The simple oxygen mask is suitable for situations where the requirement for the oxygen concentration is not particularly high and can provide an oxygen concentration of approximately 40%-60%.

Non-rebreather Mask: This type of mask is equipped with a one-way valve system, which can prevent the carbon dioxide exhaled by the patient from being inhaled back into the mask, and at the same time, ensure that the patient can inhale a high concentration of oxygen. The non-rebreather mask can usually provide an oxygen concentration of 60%-95% and is suitable for patients who require a high oxygen concentration, such as patients with severe respiratory failure.

Venturi Mask: Using the Venturi principle, it precisely controls the mixing ratio of oxygen and air by adjusting the different apertures on the mask, thus providing an accurate oxygen concentration, such as 24%, 28%, 35%, 40%, etc. The Venturi mask is often used for patients with strict requirements for oxygen concentration, such as patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
